Jets beat Cardinals 10-6 to extend winning streak to 4 games

The New York Jets and Arizona Cardinals each took a 5-0 lead into the seventh inning of their season opener today.
The teams will play their first regular-season game this weekend at Dodger Stadium.
The Cardinals will look to extend their winning streak, which had stood at five games, to four games when they host the Los Angeles Dodgers in a game that starts at 7 p.m.
ET (1 p.l.m., CT).
“We’re looking forward to it, and I think it’s going to be a great opportunity for us,” coach Rex Ryan said of the matchup.
“We’ve got to win some games, too.
And I think we’re going to get some breaks, and we’re all going to try to get out to some great games and hopefully, if we can continue to play the way we’ve been playing, we’ll keep that going.”
The Jets won 10-3 on Sunday afternoon in a season opener at home against the Kansas City Royals.
The game featured Ryan’s third consecutive win.
The offense hit just one home run and two of the three RBIs came by Ryan himself.
Ryan said the team is taking the game more seriously now.
“This is the first game of a long season, so it’s a little different,” Ryan said.
“It’s a lot of pressure and you have to play well.
So, it’s good to be able to relax and just enjoy the game and enjoy the team.”
I think it’ll be a good thing for us.
We have a lot to look forward to.
We’re going out and doing our job and getting a win.
“Ryan had two hits and a walk in the first inning, while his RBI single in the second brought in the team’s first run.
The team is now 10-1 at home.
Ryan will have to deal with the pressure of playing on the road again after the Cardinals clinched a playoff spot with Sunday’s 9-2 win over the Los Vegas Dodgers.
Ryan said he is confident the offense will be back on track after the home run.”
They’ve been really, really good, and they’re still working hard. “
I think the guys have been working really hard.
They’ve been really, really good, and they’re still working hard.
So I think that’s the important thing is, that the guys are going to come back and compete for a playoff position.”
Obviously, it’d be nice to be back here.
I think, just as importantly, it would be nice for us to get a win and play well.
“The teams are tied atop the NL West standings at 8-7.
They also are tied with the Dodgers for second place in the NL Central with three games remaining.
The Dodgers will play the Milwaukee Brewers on Saturday night.
