How to Play: Astros Game Today
Posted On August 6, 2021
“We were really looking forward to going up against the Astros,” said Andrew, who has played every day of the series since 2004.
“But it’s been a little bit stressful at the moment.
We’re not really seeing them play a lot.
We’ve been on the road a lot.”
It’s been the same story for some of the players.
Chris Archer, who had been batting .280 with 10 home runs and 31 RBIs before his injury, has not played in three straight games because of his back.
Andrew said he is not sure if he will be able to get back to the field in time to face the Astros on Wednesday.
Andrew is one of the few players in baseball who has been hurt, injured or sidelined for three straight seasons.
“It’s frustrating,” he said.
“I feel like I’m playing on borrowed time.”
The Astros have lost five straight games.
The Yankees are in second place in the AL West, just a game behind the Astros.
The Mets are in fourth, four games behind the Houston Astros.
“We just have to keep playing the way we’ve been playing,” catcher Josh Edgin said.
Astros shortstop Carlos Correa (left shoulder) and catcher Brian McCann (right elbow) both left the game in the fourth inning after leaving the game with a strained right hamstring.
McCann, who was hit in the head by a line drive by outfielder Carlos Gomez in the eighth inning, was helped to the clubhouse and returned to the dugout.
He remained in the game.
Correa, who batted .300 with nine home runs in his first three seasons in Houston, left in the fifth inning after being hit by a pitch.
He was replaced by Nick Masset, who made two errors in three innings.
Astros manager A.J. Hinch was not happy with his lineup.
“This lineup is not good enough to win games,” he told reporters.
“They’re a good lineup, but not good on the field.”
The Yankees were playing without closer John Axford, who is expected to miss a week with a lower back strain.
He had been the Astros No. 2 closer.
“He is getting better, but he’s going to miss some time,” Hinch said.
Axford has pitched in three games since being placed on the disabled list July 28.
“The team has been good to him, but we’ve got to get through this,” Hint said.
The Astros are in the middle of their longest winning streak in franchise history.
They have a 4-0 lead in the series and the Yankees are on a five-game winning streak.
“There’s no question in my mind that we are going to win this game,” said Astros third baseman Jose Altuve, who went 4-for-4 with three RBIs and a home run in a win on July 22.
Altuve’s home run came in the first inning.
“If you can get him to the plate, he’s the guy,” Hitter said.
Houston has won six of seven games in Houston.
“Hopefully, we can put the pressure on them,” Altuve said.
